Monday
The school concert is coming up, I am so worried, I’ve been practising like a maniac, but I don’t know why, really - Mum and Dad aren’t coming, but I guess I should have expected it. Mum being too drunk to care and Dad being away and all. Now off to sleep as I haven’t got much else to say.
Tuesday
Today I went for a walk to the beach, and aren’t I glad I went! I was just sitting on the shingle making a small Mount Etna out of stones when Harley ran past. He turned round and came back, sat down next to me. We started talking and he mentioned something about his dog having puppies. I told him about Bernard and he invited me to go round his and see them. So of course I went. The puppies were fantastic. I particularly liked one called Ginger. Harley asked whether I would like to pop round his mum’s and meet his brother Jason. So we went - I didn’t even know he had a brother! Harley seems so cool and care-free, but when I saw him with his brother, it was different - he was kind and loving towards him. Now off to bed – it’s been a busy day.
Wednesday
OH MY GOD! School concert today! Went really well! I even got through the Vivaldi Danza Pastorale without too many mistakes. And GUESS who was there!! RACHEL! She was sitting with Felix. I was so amazed. I was so happy to see them there, all the snooty parents were staring at them, it was quite funny. It made up for Mum and Dad not being there. I really felt something seeing Rachel again.
Thursday
Today, after a restless night, I decided it was about time to face up to Rachel and tell her how I feel. I walked round to hers and just as I was about to knock, she opened the door. She was off to see Felix in her school play. She asked me if I would go with her! Of course I said yes. The play was a hit (Importance of being Earnest), and Felix was amazing - Lady Bracknell indeed! Luna asked me if I was going to the bus stop on Saturday, I said I wasn’t sure.
Friday
I have decided to go to the mystery event tomorrow after receiving an email from Luna asking me to go. I’m really excited.
Saturday
I arrived at the bus stop, the others were all waiting. We were all kind of confused about us all being there. Harley was there with Jason, so I spoke to them for a bit. Then a minibus arrived. We didn’t recognise the driver, but he said he had been hired to take us somewhere, and Harley said he knew who had booked it, so we decided to get in. We arrived in a suburban street and the driver told us to go to number 28. Harley knocked, as no-one else would! And guess who opens the door - TIEMAN! His name is Simon and he is Louise’s brother! We all went in and started to party. Then Louise hobbled in on her crutches! She made a little speech saying how it was her fault that she got hit, she was depressed and stepped in front of the van on purpose. She said she now knows this was a really stupid thing to do, and how she feels great that she now has friends, and is really happy.
Harley asked me if I would like a puppy – I could have Ginger if I wanted! I said yes, and then Rachel came up to me and I was so happy I just kissed her, and it was amazing!!!
I went home, and then the drama started. Dad and I did an intervention on mum, which means we sat down and confronted her about her drinking. She was furious and kept shouting, but this time Dad was really strong. She finally accepted she had a problem after an hour of crying and shouting. Then the people arrived to take her off to rehab (dad had arranged everything). So now she’s gone, and although it will be weird to have Christmas without her, I’m glad she’s finally getting help.
Dad said Christmas was going to be hard, but I totally disagree! I have brill friends! A new dog coming! And a new girlfriend!!!
